Training

< Previous | Next >

Providing young Pacific islanders with education and vocational training will enable them to find jobs and earn incomes, especially in tourism which is a major source of income for countries. It will also increase opportunities to work on temporary labour migration programs in other countries. Temporary migration provides work for people without contributing to 'brain drain'. It allows people to spend part of a year working in another country, sending money back home as remittances or saving it to invest in their families or communities. Host countries benefit by knowing they have a regular workforce which they can call on when they need workers most.
