Energy
Access to affordable and reliable energy is necessary for economic development and poverty reduction. For the poor, basic energy services such as lighting, heating and power for transport, water pumping and processing basic agricultural commodities can fundamentally affect quality of life and livelihoods. Electricity is critical for providing basic services. In rural areas, lack of electricity can decrease the willingness of professionals such as doctors and teachers to work in these areas.
