Food security for Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste depends on the ability to produce food and the ability to export goods and services in order to import food. When the cost of food and fuel suddenly increase, it puts further strain on already meagre budgets. It can mean the difference between families sending their children to school or receiving health care or not.
