Tourism
Vanuatu—A tourist destination. Tourism generates much economic growth in the Pacific, creating business and employment opportunities. In 2005, tourism accounted for nearly half of the income of Palau and Cook Islands. The same year nearly one person in five worked in tourism in Vanuatu and just over one in ten in Fiji. However international tourism needs good transport services before it will thrive. Airlines and cruise ships need to be able to offer reasonable and competitive rates and their services need to be reliable. More flights and cheaper fares, together with political stability have helped drive tourism growth in Samoa and Vanuatu. |
